Golf on the Costa Calida is now a major industry. Although there are some very established courses present, in recent times there has been a sharp increase in the quantity of courses, and therefore choice available. If coupled with the neighbouring Costa Blanca the golfing market here is now hot on the heels, if not rivalling, that of the Costa del Sol and the Algarve. A great selection of courses are available ranging from easy-difficult and cheap-expensive.
The vast majority of courses do not allow booking more than 7 days in advance (unless booking in large groups), preferring to capitalise on the income created by short term visitors rather than membership. However due to demand, short term booking is almost always necessary and those turning up on the day expecting to play may find themselves disappointed. Do contact the corresponding clubhouse in advance to be certain before turning up.

Nicklaus Golf Trail
The Nicklaus Golf Trail is set to be a point of reference for golf not only in Spain but in the whole of Europe. The climate allows for play all year round and it is located in an area with excellent transport links to anywhere in Spain or abroad. The Golf Trail consists of 4 exceptional courses:
La Serena Golf Course
La Serena Golf lies in the municipality of Los Alcázares, occupying an expanse of land right next to the Mar Menor. Mainly flat, the golf course's main difficulties will be the prevailing Levante wind and the many water hazards that come into play in 16 of the 18 holes.
Roda Golf Course
This superb 18 hole par 72 (6, 1337 meters) golf course has been designed by Dave Thomas with assistance from Sam Torrance. They have transformed the practically flat ground into an interesting and undulating golf terrain, with strategically placed lakes.
Hacienda Del Alamo Golf Course
Set amongst 574 hectares the Hacienda del Alamo golf resort is recognised as one of the finest golf resorts in Spain. Hacienda del Alamo offers great properties, superb facilities, amazing golf and an incredible club house that has been receiving massive praise since opening in 2007.
