Costa Del Sol
Golf on the Costa del Sol is a major industry, so much so that it is often referred to as the Costa del Golf. This part of Spain boasts perhaps the highest concentration of high quality golf courses in Europe. There are well over 50 courses in total, many of which have hosted major championships; such as Valderrama, San Roque and Sotogrande (amongst others).
Mild weather and warm winters are the main reason why golf took off here in the first place. With increased popularity in the game, many visiting golfers (including well known professionals) use the Costa del Sol as their winter training ground.
Many courses do not allow booking more than 7 days in advance (unless booking in large groups). However due to demand, short term booking is almost always necessary and those turning up on the day expecting to play may find themselves disappointed. Do contact the corresponding clubhouse in advance to be certain before turning up.

Atalaya Golf & Country Club
Atalaya Golf Club has 2 magnificent 18-hole courses. Old Course, designed by Bernhard von Limburger, is a classical course formed by a series of superb fairways, bunkers and elevated greens. New Course is a genuine test, for both beginners and established players.
Alcaidesa Golf Club
Alcaidesa Golf Club has 36 magnificent holes spread over the resort. Apart from the classic Links-type course, which has been Alcaidesa's flagship since 1992, since 2007 there is a new Heathland one, which recovers the gently undulating landscape and typical groves of the area.
Alhaurin Golf Club
Apart from its magnificent Severiano Ballesteros designed par 72 course, Alhaurin Golf features superb practising facilities with a spacious natural grass driving range, putting green, chipping green and a pretty 9 hole par 3 academy course.
Almenara Golf Club
Almenara opened in 1998 and has three 9-hole loops, each of which is the brainchild of Dave Thomas, and also provides very extensive practice and teaching facilities. A top class hotel, professionals shop and restaurant complete the amenities.
Cabopino Golf Course
Inaugurated in April 2001. 18 holes with a par of 71 laid out by little-known Spanish architect Juan Ligues is short but very tight in places. Very scenic course with views to mountains and seas. Buggies obligatory but included in the price of green fee.
Calanova Golf Club
Calanova Golf Club is a great par 72 course located in Mijas, Malaga. The course with an exquisite and spectacular layout, enables the player to use the strategy during the whole round. The course boasta great views of the sea and mountains.
Doña Julia Golf Club
Doña Julia Golf Club opened in 1989 and is located in Casares. It has matured into a lovely established course, with beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and mountains. It has been constructed to USGA standards with regard to the tees, drainage, bunkers and greens.
Estepona Golf Club
The 18 hole course, was designed by José Luis López and first opened in 1989. The fairways are wide and the greens large which provides a challenge for players of all levels, but doesn't penalise the average golfer.
El Chaparral Golf Club
The course consists of 18 holes situated in one of the most privileged settings on the Costa del Sol. Close to the sea - only 700 metres from the beach - surrounded by a forest of pine trees.
El Paraiso Golf Club
Everywhere you look the views are magnificent, from many holes you can see the blue of the Mediterranean and there is always the backdrop of the mountains. Gary Player has used these natural resources brilliantly to create one of the best designed courses on the Costa del Sol.
Finca Cortesin Golf Club
The 18 holes are very unique since every hole is different to the other. Technically speaking, it is important to emphasize the following features: the Bermuda 419 Grass fairways are very wide, and the beautifully shaped bunkers are filled with white marble sand.
Gran Flamingos Golf Club
Gran Flamingo is a fantastic new 18 hole par 73 golf course. The layout is being described as a technical course, with long fairways and wide greens. Each tee has 5 start platforms, making it a stern but fair test of golf for all players abilities.
La Cala Golf Course
La Cala Resort boasts three 18-hole championship courses designed by the renowned Cabell Robinson, a star pupil of the legendary Robert Trent Jones. It also has a top quality six-hole par 3 layout that is attached to the only David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Spain.
La Cañada Golf Course
Opened in 1982, 18 holes. The first nine were designed by David Thomas and the rest by Robert Trent Jones Snr. The signature hole is the 18th which is played over the scenic valley. You will enjoy the views of the Guadiaro river and Mediterranean Sea.
La Duquesa Golf Club
18 holes and entertaining fairways will allow you to enjoy rounds of golf reserved for players who enjoy the sun and Mediterranean breezes. Spectacular tees from which you can see the African continent and neighbouring Marbella.
La Quinta Golf Course
La Quinta Golf boasts three 9 hole courses integrated into the natural surroundings from which one can view the Mediterranean and the mountains that encircle Marbella whilst playing one of its 3 possible courses.
La Reserva Golf Course
Designed by Cabell Robinson, this new course, part of the Sotogrande, Almenara complex, is stunningly beautiful, created to be enjoyed by the majority of golfers, with two sets of tees for ladies and for men, giving golfers at all levels to opportunity to excel.
Lauro Golf Course
Designed by Folco Nardi and Mariano Benitez, Lauro Golf course is located 1000 feet above sea level and set in the most beautiful countryside. With views of mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, the course adjoins the protected forest area of the Sierra de Mijas.
Los Arqueros Golf Course
The Los Arqueros Golf Course was the first golf course to be designed by Severiano Ballesteros. As the designer himself says, Los Arqueros is a good course for players of all kinds - a reasonable challenge for the average golfer and a tough test for professionals.
Los Flamingos Golf Club
The Los Flamingos Golf Club is an 18-hole, 5.714 metre, par-71 course, designed by the prestigious couse architect Antonio Garcia Garrido. It is characterised by its carefully conserved landscaping, with a large variety of trees and beautiful views of the Mediterranean.
Los Naranjos Golf Club
Los Naranjos opened in 1977, and has just undergone a programme of improvements including new greens. It features long terraced tees and large undulating greens. The broad sweeping fairways of the front 9 holes are significantly different from the back 9.
Marbella Golf Club
Marbella Golf was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. The 18 hole layout was imaginatively conceived and is designed to compliment the existing environment and provide a testing but enjoyable game for golfers of different abilities.
Mijas Golf Club
During the last decades, Mijas Golf has become one of the most popular golf complexes in Europe, known by the outstanding condition of their courses and the friendly atmosphere and excellent service provided to the clients.
Miraflores Golf Club
Miraflores follows the gentle contours of the Sierra Mijas foothills. The fairways and greens are maintained in lush splendour throughout the year, and water is supplied from three artificial ponds which come into play on four holes.
Monte Mayor Golf Club

Parador Golf Course
Parador is the Costa del Sol's oldest course. Very popular with UK golfers due to its interesting mixture of parkland and links style holes (some of which feature lagoons) and its fast greens. It was created by Tom Simpson, who also designed Muirfield and Turnberry.
Rio Real Golf Club
Inaugurated in 1965 designer by Javier Arana, this magnificent 18-hole par 72 golf course is set in a beautiful sloping valley with challenging greens.
San Roque Golf Club
The San Roque Club offers all the facilities you'd expect of the finest course on the Costa del Sol. The two contrasting golf courses are as challenging as they are beautiful and away from the greens.
Santa Maria Golf Club

Sotogrande Golf Course
Sotogrande Golf Course was inaugurated in 1964, and like the course at Valderrama, it too was designed by Robert Trent Jones. Situated in Sotogrande, Its most outstanding feature is its natural beauty with views out over the sea.
Santana Golf Course
Situated between La Cala de Mijas and Fuengirola, Santana Golf Course and Country Club lies with breathtaking views of the Mijas mountains, close to the Mediterranean sea. Set within groves of oranges and avocados, truly a place where 'nature and golf are one'.
Santa Clara Golf Club

The Par 71 Championship Course measures 6356 metres from the professional tees. The fairways have been described by top pros and leading golf writers as the best in Europe, if not the world. It is not an easy course - nor was it intended to be.
